DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan today said there are many types of factions in Bangladeshi politics including right-wing, left-wing, moderate, extremist but moderation is BNP’s acceptability.

“No matter how much BNP is criticized, everyone says one thing that BNP is fairly moderate. I think this is where BNP's acceptability lies,” he told a discussion on the occasion of the 101st birth anniversary of Mashiur Rahman Jadu Mia at the Jatiya Press Club here.

Moyeen Khan said the biggest weakness of the democratic system in the world at this moment is the proliferation of money in democracy.

“But even then, despite all this, there was a saying in Bangladesh, democracy is bad but other systems are worst. We have not yet been able to find a system that is better than democracy, although the democratic system has many weaknesses,” he said.

He said no matter how many faults or virtues the BNP may have, BNP does not believe in the politics of revenge.

Moyeen Khan said after independence, the political atmosphere was created anew, when Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman took the responsibility of rebuilding this country on his shoulders after the Sepoy-People's Revolution, according to the will of the people.

After the Sepoy Revolution, Jadu Mia used to attend various meetings as President Ziaur Rahman himself was also present in most of the meetings, he mentioned.

“There was only one issue - how to take Bangladesh to the path of democracy. Even today, we are reviewing that what an important role Jadu Mia played,” he said.

Mashiur Rahman Jadu Mia joined hands with President Ziaur Rahman to gift that democratic system to Bangladesh, he said.
