Nets, artisanal fishing vessels seized in Bhola

BHOLA, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) – During a joint operation by the Coast Guard and the Department of Fisheries, seven illegal artisanal fishing vessels with nets and sea fish were seized from Lalmohon upazila of the district today.

On a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard and Fisheries Department conducted a special operation in the Tetulia River around 5 am and seized nets worth about Taka 250,000 and seven illegal artisanal fishing vessels with 20,000 kg of sea fish worth Taka 70 lakh, said Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of Coast Guard.

The seized fish have been handed over to the Upazila Fisheries Officer. The process of handing over the fishing vessels to Lalmohan Police Station for legal action is under way.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq further said the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect the fish resources.
