Charge-sheet filed against 35 people including Cumilla's ex MP, mayor

CUMILLA, Aug 10, 2025 (BSS) - Police have filed the charge-sheet against 35 people including former Sadar constituency lawmaker AKM Bahauddin Bahar and former Cumilla City Corporation mayor Tahsin Bahar Shuchana in the Cumilla lawyer Abul Kalam Azad murder case. 

The Investigating Officer (IO) of the case, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cumilla Kotwali Police Station Md. Mohinul Islam, submitted the charge-sheet at Cumilla Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Sunday afternoon. 

Police said that lawyer Abul Kalam Azad was injured after being shot during a victory procession in Mogaltuli area of Cumilla city on August 5 last year. 

Later, he died on August 16 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. 

After the incident, the deceased's assistant lawyer Mustafa Zaman Jasim filed a case with Cumilla Kotwali Police Station. 

After a long investigation, a total of 35 people were accused of being directly and indirectly involved in the murder and a charge-sheet was submitted to the court. 

The deceased, Abul Kalam Azad, was the joint secretary of the Cumilla Lawyers Forum.
