Ex-MP Solaiman Salim remanded in Saifullah killing case

DHAKA, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed former Member of 
Parliament (MP) from Dhaka-7 constituency Solaiman Salim on a three-day 
remand in a case lodged over the killing of college student Khalid Saifullah 
during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order as police 
produced the former lawmaker before the court and pleaded to place him on a 
seven-day remand in the case.

According to the case documents, Khalid Hasan Saifullah, HSC first-year 
student of Ideal College in Lalbagh Government Residential Area, got shot on 
July 18, 2024, while taking part in an anti-discrimination student movement. 
He died of his injuries. 

Saifullah's father Kamrul Hasan filed the case with the Lalbagh Police 
Station on August 19, 2024, against 52 including ousted prime minister Sheikh 
Hasina. 

Solaiman Salim, one of the accused of the case, was arrested from the city's 
Gulshan area on November 14 last year.
