Probe report in Shapla Chattar mass killing case on Nov 12

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today set November 12 for submitting probe report in a crimes against humanity case over the mass killing that took place in the capital's Shapla Chattar area on May 5, 2013.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing time plea moved by prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim.

Four accused out of total 21, in the case were produced before the tribunal during the hearing. The accused are former state minister for home affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku, former IGP AKM Shahidul Haque, Major General (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan and former deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mollah Nazrul Islam.

The first tribunal on March 12 issued arrest warrant against five people, ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, former IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandaker and Imran H Sarker.

Hefazat-e-Islam filed a complaint with the office of the ICT chief prosecutor in this connection on November 27, 2024, against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Rashed Khan Menon, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Hasan Mahmud, Haji Salim, Salman F Rahman, Shamim Osman, Tarique Ahmed Siddique, SKM Shahidul Haque, Benazir Ahmed, Ziaul Ahsan, Harun Ur Rashid, Biplab Kumar Sarkar, Shahriar Kabir, Muntassir Mamun, Tureen Afroz, Imran H Sarker, Mozammel Babu, Ahmed Zobayer, Subhash Singha Roy, Nayemul Islam Khan, Aziz Ahmed and Md Manzur Ahmed.
