CID attaches Ahmedia cooperative’s property worth Tk 50cr

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has attached an Ahmedia Cooperative’s property worth about Taka 50 crore at Ibrahimpur area in the city.

The CID police have attached the ‘Euro Star Tower’ at Ibrahimpur Mouza under Kafrul Thana that is owned by Ahmedia Finance and Commerce Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, a press release signed by Special Superintendent of Police (media) Jasim Uddin Khan said here today.

According to the CID, Monir Ahmed (53) as Managing Director (MD) took registration under the name of ‘Ahmedia Multipurpose Cooperatives Society in 2005 but renamed the organization as ‘Ahmedia Finance and Commerce Multipurpose Cooperatives Society Limited’ in 2006. 

The accused collected Taka 58,34,67,000 from over 1000 members of the society alluring them for giving high profit defying the rules and regulations of savings and credit activities. 

According to the primary investigation, Monir Ahmed purchased huge moveable assets against his own name spending the savings and deposits of the members of the society. As a result, police later filed a case against Monir Ahmed and his accomplices with Kafrul Thana under Money Laundering Prevention Act.    
                 
The Financial Crime Unit of the CID during investigation found a tower constructed on 8.47 decimal lands at Ibrahimpur area and attached the property on July 16 last.
