7-member committee formed to review PWD rate schedule

DHAKA, August 12, 2025 (BSS) – The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has formed a seven-member committee to review and update the rate schedule of the Public Works Department (PWD).

According to a press release issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s public relations office, the committee is headed by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry’s Development Division-1. The panel includes senior representatives from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), the Roads and Highways Department (RHD), and the Public Works Department.

Members include professor-level representatives from BUET’s Civil Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering departments, as well as supervising engineer-level representatives from LGED, RHD, and PWD. The Deputy Secretary of the ministry’s Planning Branch-2 will serve as the committee’s member secretary.

The committee is tasked with assessing whether the items listed in the current rate schedule reflect prevailing market prices. It is expected to submit its report to the ministry promptly. The committee also has the authority to co-opt additional members if necessary.
