DHAKA, Aug 13, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator Mohammad Azaz today said the corporation is working to ensure accommodation for marginalized people by expanding residential facilities.

"It is our moral responsibility to ensure safe and dignified accommodation for sidelined and marginalized people. The DNCC is working on this," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'Community-based Housing for Cleaning Workers' held at the DNCC conference room.

The seminar was jointly organized by DNCC, Co-habit Bangladesh and the Platform of Community Action and Architecture. Cleaning workers from Mirpur and Gabtoli areas mainly attended the event.

City planners, educationists, lawyers, and representatives from several other NGOs also took part in the seminar.

They stressed the need for building proper housing facilities while maintaining due social and humanitarian respect for marginalized communities.

Speakers said cleaning workers are essential for city life, and safe accommodation is their fundamental right. They noted that community-based housing not only ensures safe and respectful living but also contributes to economic, social, and health development.
