One held for attempting to set fire to bus at Adabor

DHAKA, Aug 13, 2025 (BSS) - A young man was arrested while trying to set fire to a staff bus in the capital's Adabor area early Wednesday by pouring petrol.

The arrestee was identified as Md Aminur Rahman, alias Amin (26).

He was caught red-handed on Beribadh Road, adjacent to Sunibir Housing and Nabadiganta Adarsh High School, under Adabor Police Station area around 4:10 am, a police press release said. A plastic bottle filled with petrol was seized from the scene.

According to Adabor Police sources, some unidentified persons, including Aminur, came on a motorcycle and tried to set fire to the bus. 

When local people noticed the attempt, they detained Aminur and started beating him. Aminur's accomplices managed to flee.

Upon receiving information, the Adabor Police patrol team reached the spot, rescued him, and took him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.

He was later referred to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital for further treatment.

After receiving primary treatment, Aminur was taken into police custody at 11 am.
