DHAKA, Aug 14, 2025 (BSS) - In the last 24 hours, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) has arrested 13 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations by conducting raids at various places in the capital.

The arrested are: Dhaka Bangshal Thana Awami League Agriculture Affairs Secretary Md. Obaidul Haque (60), Tangail District Sakhipur Upazila Awami League Vice President Md. Atiqur Rahman Bulbul Mia (56), Bangladesh Krishak League Central Committee Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Md. Amirul Islam alias Khoka Patwary (57) , Dhaka Jatrabari Thana Ward No. 65 Awami League Joint General Secretary Md. Moniruzzaman Monir (47), Fisheries and Livestock Affairs Secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League, Mahabubul Haque Helal (56), President of Dhaka Pallabi Thana 04 Ward Sramik League , Shafiqur Rahman Munshi,(55), ormer Vice-President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League and former President of Chawkbazar Thana 27 Ward Chhatra League Md. Anwar Hossain Babu (34), former Convener of Sonargaon Upazila Awami League of Narayanganj District Md. Mahbubur Rahman Babu (55), former President of Donia Union Chhatra League of Jatrabari Thana Halim Ahmed (43), Organizing Secretary of Ward 25 Chhatra League Convener Committee of Dhaka Tejgaon Thana Syed Sabbir Ahmed (23) , active member of Awami League Shamsuddin (47), former Chairman of Bhaluka Upazila Parishad of Mymensingh district Abul Kalam Azad (52) and Dhaka Metropolitan South City Awami League Bangshal Thana No. 35 Ward Goal Nagar Unit President Nitai Chan Ghosh alias Montu Ghosh (66).

They were arrested in separate raids at Lalbagh, Banani, Paltan, Demra, Pallabi, Imambara area of Hossaini Dalan Road under Chawkbazar Police Station, Islampur and Jatrabari areas. 
 
Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrests.
