DHAKA, Aug 14, 2025(BSS) - The Ministry of Housing and Public Works today cancelled allocation of plots for 15 drivers in the Jhilmil Residential Project in Keraniganj across the Buriganga river.

The allocation was allegedly made defying the existing rules and regulations, the ministry sources said here today.

However, the ministry has already sent a letter to the Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Katripokkha (Rajuk) asking him to take urgent measures to cancel those plots immediately.

The ministry took the decision after receiving reports from two inquiry committees formed following media reports regarding allocation of the plots for 15 drivers of former Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) defying existing rules and regulations.

The committee during its investigation found that those drivers did not apply for plots in the Jhilmil project but the Rajuk allotted those following a written directive from the then prime minister’s office exceeding the quota limit and defying rules.

Both the committees recommended canceling the allotment of plots of those 15 drivers.

The drivers whose plots were cancelled are-Md Borhan Uddin, Md Belal Hossain, Md Saiful Islam, Md Safiqul Islam, Md Matiur Rahman, Md Nur Hossain Bepari, Md Mahbub Hossain, Md Shaheen, Md Mizanur Rahman, Md Baschu Hawlader, Md Nurul Islam, Md Rajon Matbar, (3 kathas) and Md Nurul Alam, Md Nur Nabi and Md Shaheen (5 kathas).
