3 including 2 veterinarians airlifted to Dhaka after elephant attack

DHAKA, Aug 16, 2025 (BSS) - Three people including two veterinarians, who sustained serious injuries in an elephant attack while treating the animal wounded in a landmine blast near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, were flown to Dhaka by a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) helicopter for advanced medical care.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at Baluchara Dakshin in Rajarkul Thoayingyakata area under Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar district, according to a BGB press release.

The injured were identified as Dulahazra Safari Park veterinary surgeons Dr. Hatem Sazzat Md. Zulkarnain and Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, and Save the Nature of Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar district branch member secretary Md. Atiqur Rahman.
 
The injured were airlifted to Dhaka from Ramu Cantonment by a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) helicopter for better treatment, the release added.
 
"BGB is always committed to providing humanitarian assistance along with border security," it said.
