Charge sheet filed against banned BCL leader Naimul, 13 others

DHAKA, Aug 16, 2025 (BSS) - Police have filed a charge sheet before a court here against 13 people, including the president of Mohammadpur Thana unit of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Naimul Islam Russell in a case allegedly for sexually abusing a woman for taking part in anti-quota student movement in July last year.    
 
The other accused in the charge sheet of the case are - Mohammadpur Chhatra League leader Russell (25), Md. Faisal Alam Sunny (25), Akash Dewan (28), Md. Hasan (25), Shamim (30), Mirza Emon (26), Md. Mohan Sardar (45), Asad (33), Deen Islam (31), Md. Parvez Ahmed (24), Md. Anik (23) and Sheikh Jasim (26).
 
Investigating officer of the case Sub-Inspector Akkas Ali of Mohammadpur Police Station confirmed BSS of the matter.
 
"We submitted the charge sheet to the court today after completing the investigation of the case on April 30. Seven people have been made witnesses in the charge sheet," he said.
 
A 52-year old woman named Baby filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station on August 25, 2024 as the complainant against the BCL leaders and his accomplices.
 
According to the case details, on July 21 last year, the accused came to the complainant's house on Shershahshuri Road under Mohammadpur Police Station and asked them why they had joined the anti-quota movement.
 
When the complainant and her daughter protested, the accused randomly punched the plaintiff and her daughter and also molested them.
 
The accused then attacked the victim's house with sticks and country-made weapons, causing damage to the house including the AC and TV worth Tk 5 lakh.
 
The accused also looted two tolas of gold, including gold rings, earrings, chains, and bracelets, worth two lakh taka and Tk 1.5 lakh in cash from their house.
