DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police, in separate 
drives, arrested five more leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and 
its affiliated organisations at various places in the capital during the past 
24 hours.
 
The arrested have been identified as Dhaka Metropolitan North City Sramik 
League Organizing Secretary Md. Monir Hossain, Dibar Union Chhatra League 
General Secretary under Patnitala upazila in Naogaon district Sayeed Saddam 
Shakil, 20, Pakundia Upazila in Kishoreganj District Chhatra League Former 
Joint Convener Iqbal Ahmed Ripon, 32, Cumilla District Debidwar Thana AL 
Cultural Secretary Md. Salauddin Mamun, 47, and Chairman of Jalalabad Union 
No. 1 of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila of Gopalganj district Fakir Md. Maruf Reza, 
54.
 
Deputy Commissioner of the DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrest.
 
DB Cyber South Division arrested Md. Monir Hossain from Demra Police Station 
area around 6.15 am today while Sayeed Saddam Shakil was arrested from 
Farmgate KIB Convention Hall in the capital at 01.30 pm on Saturday.
 
The DB Uttara Division arrested Iqbal Ahmed Ripon from Uttara around 10.25pm 
on the day.
 
On the other hand, a team of the DB Ramna Division arrested Md. Salauddin 
Mamun from Demra Police Station today and Maruf Reza from Paltan Police 
Station area on Saturday.
