DHAKA, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company has conducted mobile courts in Sonargaon area of Narayanganj and Savar area of Dhaka district, disconnecting illegal gas connections and imposing fines.

The company, led by two executive magistrates, disconnected a large number of illegal gas connections and realized fines from the authorities concerned during the operation, an official release issued by the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said today.

A team of Titas Gas regional distribution wing-Sonargaon conducted the drive in the Sonargaon Economic Zone area and disconnected illegal connections of three lime factories and two restaurants. With the help of fire service officials and an excavator, the team also destroyed the equipment of the lime factories. They realized Taka three lakh in fines from the factories and restaurants and filed two cases in this connection.

Another mobile court led by another executive magistrate disconnected illegal gas connections at Kolma, Gauripur, Garunhat, Ashulia College Road and Baro Ashulia areas under Savar upazila of Dhaka district. The team removed over 100 meters of illegal distribution lines and disconnected two illegal industrial connections and three meter-less residential connections.

During the drive, the team disconnected the illegal gas connection of the 'Route Next Washing' factory for the third time and sealed its source point. They also realized Taka one lakh in fines from the owner of the factory.
