Farida mourns death of DoF Director Alfaz Uddin

DHAKA, August 18, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Alfaz Uddin Sheikh, Director of the Barishal Division of the Department of Fisheries (DoF).

In a condolence message, the adviser said Alfaz Uddin Sheikh was an honest, skilled and dedicated officer.
 
She said his contribution to the development, expansion and sustainable management of the country's fisheries resources would be remembered with gratitude.

"With his death, the fisheries sector has lost a competent, experienced and devoted officer," she said, praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressing heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Alfaz Uddin joined the Department of Fisheries on February 22, 1998, through the 17th BCS (Fisheries) cadre. 

He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of colleagues and well-wishers.

Alfaz Uddin passed away this afternoon while undergoing treatment at Rahat Anwar Hospital in Barishal at the age of 56.
