DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police has arrested an accused serving life sentence in a drug case from Gazipur Sadar.
 
The arrested person has been identified as Md Rabiul Hasan (24), son of Md. Ayub Ali hailed from Latabar Village under Kaliganj Police Station of Lalmonirhat district.
 
A team of the ATU arrested Rabiul in a raid conducted at City Corporation More area under Sadar Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) around 10:15pm on Tuesday, said an ATU press release.
 
The arrested Md. Rabiul Hasan was sentenced life term imprisonment by Lalmonirhat District and Session Judge on July 3 in 2025, in a case filed under Section 36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act 2018 with Kaliganj Police Station of Lalmonirhat district on February 1 in 2022.

Since then, Rabiul Hasan went into hiding.
