Knowledge on RTI is important for govt officials: land secretary

DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - Land Ministry Senior Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed today said that adequate knowledge about the Right to Information Act is very important for the officials of the republic. 

“The officials of the republic can play a vital role in resisting corruption and irregularities through this law,” he said while addressing a training course for the officials of the ministry on ‘Right to Information Act and The Officials Secretes Act,1923’ at the conference room of the ministry.

The senior secretary said that the officials can be aware of their responsibilities and duties and transparency and accountabilities through this law. These two laws are related to the official secrets of the government and publication of its information, he said, adding that the RTI has granted the right to information of the citizens and the official secrets act has imposed restrictions on publication of some government information related to the national security.

Saleh Ahmed said that the RTI Act has been enacted for ensuring free flow of information and access to information of the public for their empowerment and transparency and accountability of the government.

Additional Secretary (Administration wing) Md Shafiqul Islam moderated the training programme.
