Mahfuz commits suicide, has no affiliation with BCL: Police

DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) – In a statement  Noakhali Police confirmed that Md. Mahfuz (25) committed suicide and he had no political affiliation with banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
 
Despite the fact, it is being circulated on social media that Mahfuz, President of Andarchar Union Chhatra League under Sudharam Model Police Station in Noakhali, was killed, the statement said.
 
The person actually committed suicide by hanging himself with a guava tree branch on the north side of the kitchen of the house belonging to his father Sayedul Haque (56) located at Kazirchar village, ward number 9 of Andarchar Union Parishad number 20, Noakhali district, it said.
 
Mahfuz had no political affiliation with the banned Chhatra League, it added.
 
The police prepared a post-mortem report of the victim's body and sent it to the Noakhali Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, it said, adding that no injury marks were found on the victim's body.
 
In this incident, the victim's father Sayedul Haque filed a case of accidental death with Sudharam Police Station.
