Attempt to murder case lodged against Kujendra, 126 others

KHAGRACHHARI, Aug  26, 2025 (BSS) - An attempt to murder case was filed against former state minister Kujendra Lal Tripura and 126 others at a court here today for their alleged involvement in an attack on a journalist of the district.

The case was filed with the court of judicial magistrate Tarek Aziz Raihan by H M Profulla, district correspondent of private television channel Bangla Vision, Md Afsar Hossain Rony, lawyer of the complainant told the journalists.

The court took the case into cognizance and instructed the Officer-in-Charge of Khagrachhari Sadar Thana to investigate it.

The complainant of the case mentioned names of seven accused including the former lawmaker and state minister and accused 120 unnamed people for their alleged involvement in the attack on him on August 4 last year. He also accused them for harassing him in various means through social media.

The other accused of the case are office secretary of Khagrachhari district Awami League (AL) Chandon Kumar Dey, AL leaders Mainuddin Bhutto, Nurul Islam, M F Rabbi, Mohammad Mehedi Hassan and Rahim Miah Nayeem alias Arefin Nayeem.

According to the allegation, a group of people led by Kujedra Lal Tripura attacked journalist HM Profulla in the district town on August 4 last year while he went there to cover the movement of the students and the people. The journalist along with his few colleagues was injured in the attack at that time. 

He also alleged that the accused are harassing him socially, politically and economically by giving defamatory posts in the social media platforms.
