2 held in connection with theft of Chinese citizen's wallet in Mirpur

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two suspects for their involvement in stealing wallet of a Chinese citizen from the capital's Mirpur area. 
 
The arrested have been identified as Sabbir (19) and Md. Antu (27).
 
A team of Mirpur Model Police Station arrested the duo in two separate raids at ??Mirpur 10 on August 21 and August 27 and recovered Tk 2500 and 300 US dollars from their possessions with the help of video footage of the spot and information technology, said a police press release.
 
Earlier on August 17 last evening unidentified assailants stole the wallet of a Chinese tourist while he was passing by the north side of Mirpur-10 Metrorail Station under Mirpur Model Police Station. 
 
The wallet contained Tk 30,000 in cash, 400 US dollars and a bank card of the Postal Bank of China. 
 
A case was registered with Mirpur Model Police Station in this connection. 
 
During the initial interrogation, the arrestees Sabbir and Antu confessed to their involvement in the incident. 
 
They are accused of multiple cases with different police stations.
