BGB seizes illegal goods worth Tk 4.63cr in Sylhet

SYLHET, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth about Taka 4.63 crore from Sylhet border areas during the last 24 hours.

Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet BGB-48 Battalion said that teams of BGB 48 Battalion conducted the drives in Sreepur, Minatila, Banglabazar and Sangram broder outpost (BOP) areas and seized a large quantity of smuggling goods.

He said the seized items are Indian buffalos, cows, sugar, cumin, i-ball candy and catfish worth of Taka 4.63 crore.

Besides, a special patrol team of the battalion with the cooperation of Bangladesh Army conducted a raid in Haripur area under Jaintapur upazila and seized Indian sarees, scurf, sunscreen cream, nivea soft cream, ponds white beauty cream, Gillette razor, Gillette blade, clothe, cigarette and various biscuits, he said.

The BGB-48 Battalion commander said the anti smuggling campaign was conducted following headquarters instructions.

The process of necessary legal measures is underway.
