BARISHAL, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive convict, who had been sentenced to life-term imprisonment in a murder case, during a special drive in Dhaka last night.

The arrested convict, Md Asaduzzaman Alam, is the son of late Mofizur Rahman Sheikh of Pirojpur-Matha Bera area in Barishal district.

According to a press release issued by RAB-8, a team conducted a special operation in the Purana Paltan area under Paltan Police Station around 8:30 pm on Sunday, with support from RAB-3, and arrested Alam.

RAB-8 Senior Assistant Director Amit Hasan said that acting on secret information, the joint team carried out the operation and detained Asaduzzaman Alam, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in a 2010 murder case in Jhenaidah.

Officials said the detainee was initially handed over to Hatirjheel Police Station in Dhaka for further legal procedures.
