JASHORE, March 21, 2026 (BSS) - Marking the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, improved meals were distributed among 600 underprivileged people at a community centre in Jashore today, organized by the volunteer organization “Joyful Journey.”
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit attended the programme as the chief guest.
The state minister personally served polao, lentils, chicken and beef to the beneficiaries, creating an emotional atmosphere among attendees.
An 80-year-old woman, Zarina Begum from the Jashore railway station area, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Even on this Eid day, I might have had to survive on leftover food. But by the will of Allah, today I am able to enjoy polao, roast, and beef—served by Aninda Islam Amit, the pride of Jashore. I never imagined receiving such honour.”
Abdur Rahman ,60, a rickshaw puller from the Puraton Kasba area, shared a similar sentiment. “With my daily earnings, it is difficult to manage regular meals, let alone arrange special food on Eid. Today, I came here with my wife and two daughters and had a fulfilling meal. I never thought I would experience such an environment on Eid, especially being served by the state minister himself,” he said.
A special attraction of the event was an ice cream corner, which brought additional joy to children from underprivileged families.
Speaking on the occasion, the state minister said the true spirit of Eid lies in sharing happiness with the less fortunate, rather than celebrating in isolation.
He also praised “Joyful Journey” for its humanitarian efforts and expressed hope that the organization would expand its activities further to serve more people.
