New administrators appointed in 14 district councils including Dhaka

DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) – The government has appointed new administrators in 14 district councils, including Dhaka, as part of its ongoing administrative restructuring.

A notification signed by Local Government Department Deputy Secretary Khondaker Farhad Ahmed was issued here today to this end.

According to the notification, the appointed individuals will serve as full-time administrators until further orders.

They will exercise the powers and perform the duties of district council chairmen and will receive allowances and other benefits in accordance with existing rules.

In this latest phase, administrators have been appointed in Dhaka, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Pabna, Narail, Barguna, Jamalpur, Gazipur, Manikganj, Narsingdi, Faridpur, Habiganj, Chandpur, and Feni. 

Among those appointed are- Yasin Ferdous Morad in Dhaka, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury in Nilphamari, AKM Mominul Haque in Lalmonirhat, Mohammad Zahurul Islam in Pabna, Md. Mostafizur Rahman Alek in Narail, Nazrul Islam Molla in Barguna, and Sirajul Haque in Jamalpur.

Moreover, Ishraq Ahmed Siddiqui has been appointed in Gazipur, Jamilur Rashid Khan in Manikganj, Tofazzal Hossain in Narsingdi, Afzal Hossain Khan Palash in Faridpur, Ahmed Ali in Habiganj, AKM Salim Ulya Selim in Chandpur, and MA Khalek in Feni.

Earlier, on March 15, administrators were appointed in 42 district councils. With the latest appointments, a total of 56 individuals have been assigned administrative responsibilities in two phases.

Following the fall of the Awami League government in a mass uprising, administrators were appointed in all district councils excepting the three hill districts on August 19, 2024.
