CHANDPUR, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - A Chandpur court today showed former Awami League minister Dr. Dipu Moni arrested in three more cases filed over incidents linked to the July mass uprising.

She was virtually produced before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdul Mannan in connection with the cases this noon.

Court sources said investigating officers in the respective cases requested to show her as arrested. The cases include GR-579, GR-571, and GR-585, filed in 2024, with Inspector Mintu Dutta, Sub-Inspector Nadir Shah, and Sub-Inspector Nur-e-Alam appearing for the petitions.

According to investigating officers, incidents of vandalism, arson, and looting occurred twice-on July 18 and August 4, 2024-at the residence of Chandpur district BNP president (now MP) Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, with Dipu Moni named as the prime accused for allegedly directing the attacks.

The officers also said that on August 4, 2024, students and protesters at the town bus stand were attacked, and vehicles of the Roads and Highways Department were set on fire at the old bus stand, both allegedly under her instructions.

No defense lawyer appeared during the hearing, but Dipu Moni submitted her own statement, denying involvement.

The court noted that all three incidents occurred in Chandpur and that she was named in the FIRs as an instigator. Considering the ongoing investigations, the court granted the petitions to show her arrested. She is currently held at Munshiganj District Jail.
