DHAKA, April 7, 2026 - Mobile courts have recovered over 3,657 litres of hoarded fuel oil during nationwide drives conducted over the past 24 hours, amid growing concerns about potential shortages linked to the ongoing Middle East crisis.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, a total of 384 mobile courts carried out drives across the country. During these operations, officials seized 2,431 litres of diesel, 96 litres of octane and 1,130 litres of petrol.

The drives also resulted in legal action, with 194 cases filed. Three individuals were sentenced to varying terms of imprisonment, while fines totaling Tk 824,900 were imposed.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division said that these enforcement drives will continue in order to maintain an uninterrupted fuel supply and curb illegal hoarding and other irregularities.

Executive magistrates are actively conducting similar operations in various regions, including Dhaka. Authorities have also urged the public to report any suspicious activities or irregularities to the designated vigilance teams.
