DHAKA, April 08, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of tax files of former Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judgr Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition stated that accused Asaduzzaman Noor, while serving as a Member of Parliament and a minister, allegedly abused his authority with dishonest intent and acquired assets worth Taka 5.37 crore through illegal means, which were inconsistent with his known sources of income, and retained possession of those assets unlawfully.

It further alleged that suspicious transactions amounting to Taka 158.78 crore were conducted through accounts maintained in his name at 19 banks and financial institutions.

Through these transactions, he allegedly transferred, converted and handed over proceeds of crime knowingly, leading to the filing of the case against him.

The petition also said an investigating officer has been appointed to probe the case.
