Seeds, fertilizers distributed among 700 farmers in Sherpur

SHERPUR, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - Free seeds and chemical fertilizers have been distributed among 700 small and marginal farmers in Jhenaigati upazila of the district under a government incentive program aimed at boosting Aush paddy production for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
 
The distribution program was officially inaugurated on Tuesday afternoon by Jhenaigati Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Al Amin at the Upazila Parishad Hall Room. The event was organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension.
 
Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Farhad Hossain presided over the event while several local officials were present, including Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr. ATM Fayezur Razzak Akand, Project Implementation Officer Md. Rajibul Islam, and Cooperative Officer Md. Rokunzzaman.
 
According to the Jhenaigati Upazila Agriculture Office, a total of 700 farmers are benefiting from the initiative this year. Each farmer is receiving 5 kilograms of Ufshi Aush paddy seeds, along with 10 kilograms each of DAP and MOP fertilizers.
 
The program is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity in the region, particularly in increasing the yield of Aush paddy.
