Two held, over 1.72 lakh yaba seized in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - The para-military force Border Guard 
Bangladesh (BGB) has detained two suspected drug smugglers along with 
1,72,200 pieces of Yaba tablets concealed inside a fish-laden pickup truck at 
Shilkhali check post under Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB).

According to a BGB press release issued here today, the incident took place 
around 7:30 pm on Tuesday when a mini pickup truck carrying fish from Teknaf 
to Cox's Bazar approached the Shilkhali temporary check post.

Sensing suspicious movement, BGB personnel conducted a search of the vehicle 
and detained the driver Md Firoz, 35, and his assistant Md Faisal, 20.

During the search, a total of 1, 72,200 Yaba tablets were recovered from 20 
plastic containers wrapped with black and khaki scotch tape, hidden inside a 
drum in the pickup.

During preliminary interrogation, the detainees confessed that the 
consignment had been collected from Lama Bazar in Teknaf and was being 
transported to Jatrabari in Dhaka for delivery.

Legal action against the detainees is under process with Teknaf Model Police 
Station.
