DHAKA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - The Board of Directors of Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL) has been reconstituted with the Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain as its Chairman.

The information was revealed through a notification signed by Md. Kaisar Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to the notification, the Board of Directors of Essential Drugs Company Limited has been reconstituted in accordance with Articles 53 and 54 of the company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.

As per the gazette, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board.

Other members of the board are - state minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M. A. Muhit; Secretary of Health Services Division; Director General (DG) of  Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS); Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Family Planning; Director General (DG) of  Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA).

The notification further said the Managing Director of Essential Drugs Company Limited will serve as the Member-Secretary of the Board.
