DHAKA, April 20, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Khan today said the corporation is working to ensure all civic services and such efforts must not be obstructed in any way.

"The primary commitment of DNCC is to make the city livable," he said while inaugurating the excavation and cleaning activities of Tolarbagh canal in Mirpur, stretching from Mirpur Mazar Road to Gabtoli Main Road, this afternoon.

DNCC Administrator said, "Public funds collected through taxes will be properly utilized and spent in necessary sectors. All works must be completed within the stipulated timeframe."

Highlighting the importance of keeping canals clean to control mosquito breeding, the DNCC administrator said mosquitoes breed in stagnant and polluted water. He urged city dwellers not to dump waste into canals.

DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Rakibul Hasan, Regional Executive Officer of Zone-4 Jalal Uddin, and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
