BOGURA, April 23, 2026 (BSS)- A court today framed charges against former Acting Director General of Rural Development Academy (RDA) M A Matin and his wife Sabina Afroze in a case filed over alleged amassing  of wealth beyond known sources of income.

Judge Ayez Uddin of the Bogura District Special Judge’s Court passed the order this noon over the case filed under the Anti-Corruption Act.

The accused were present in the court during the hearing.

Earlier, on January 26 this year, Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Bogura office Md Zahidul Islam submitted a charge sheet against the two accused to the Senior Special Judge’s Court in Bogura.

Confirming the matter, ACC Public Prosecutor (PP) in Bogura Mahbuba Khatun Sukhi said charges have been framed against M A Matin and his wife Sabina Afroze for acquiring assets beyond known sources of income.

She said Matin has been charged under Section 26(2) of the law, while his wife has been charged under Sections 26(2) and 27(1). The trial proceedings will now begin.

ACC investigations revealed that Matin concealed information about immovable assets worth TK 2,998,110 in his submitted wealth statement. He also provided false information and assisted his wife Sabina Afroze in acquiring assets worth TK  7,309,495 beyond known sources of income.

During his tenure at the Bogura Rural Development Academy, Matin allegedly misused power to acquire illegal wealth in his wife’s name.

Later, on February 6 of 2025, ACC Assistant Director Md Zahidul Islam filed the case under which the court has now framed charges.
