Govt declares two new river ports in Sariakandi, Dhunat

DHAKA, July 9, 2026 (BSS) - The government has declared two new river ports on the banks of the Jamuna River to improve inland waterway connectivity in the northern region, expand passenger services and develop river port-based infrastructure.

The Sariakandi River Port in Bogura district and the Dhunat River Port in the Bogura-Sirajganj region have been officially notified through separate gazette notifications.

The information was disclosed in two separate notifications issued on July 8 by the Ministry of Shipping.
