Rajshahi Trader fined Tk 50,000 for selling expired pesticides

RAJSHAHI, July 9, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined the owner of an agricultural input shop Tk 50,000 for selling expired, unapproved and overpriced pesticides at Shyampur Haat in Mohanpur upazila.

The drive was led by Mohanpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Fahima Binte Akhter, with the participation of the Upazila Agriculture Officer and members of Mohanpur Police Station.

During the drive at M/S Mohsin Krishi Ghar in Ghasigram Union, officials found expired and unapproved pesticides, tampered product labels and overpricing. A large quantity of expired and unapproved pesticides was seized, and the owner was fined Tk 50,000 under the Consumers' Rights Protection Act, 2009.

UNO Fahima Binte Akhter said the drive was conducted following a tip-off and that similar operations would continue in the public interest.
