DHAKA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS)- The Netherlands team arrived in Bangladesh today
for their first ever bilateral series here.
The series comprises with three T20 Internationals, all of which will be held
at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The Dutch side landed in Dhaka at 8.30am after which they travelled to Sylhet
in a local flight at 12.30pm.
Scott Edwards leads the side that included seasoned opener Max O'Dowd, pacer
Paul van Meekeren, the Klein brothers Ryan and Kyle, off-spinner Aryan Dutt
and leg-spinner Shariz Ahmed.
Netherlands won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier at home last
month by beating Italy in the final.
So, Bangladesh played five T20Is against Netherlands and won four of them.
Their only previous bilateral meeting was held in 2012, when Bangladesh
toured the Netherlands for two T20Is. The series was drawn 1-1. The Dutch
last played in Bangladesh during the 2024 T20 World Cup with the Tigers
winning the game by 25 runs.
The Netherlands made three injury-forced changes to their squad just before
arriving in Bangladesh.
Uncapped 17-year old batter Cedric de Lange is among three replacements named
by the Netherlands.
Among other changes made to Netherlands' 15-member squad, pacer Sebastiaan
Braat and all-rounder Sikander Zulfiqar have been slotted in.
The changes come after Ryan Klein and Fred Klaassen were ruled out of the
series due to injuries. Meanwhile, Saqib Zulfiqar withdrew citing personal
reasons.
The Netherlands will face off against Bangladesh in three T20Is starting
August 30, serving as key preparation for next year's ICC Men's T20 World
Cup. The next two T20 Internationals are scheduled on September 1 and 3.
