July Revolution Fencing Championship begins tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - The July Revolution Fencing Championship begins at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital tomorrow.

Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, Border Guard Bangladesh, Private Universities and clubs will compete in the two-day meet organized by Bangladesh Fencing Federation (BFF).

There will be no team events in the competition. Nearly 175 men and women fencers will participate in the three individual events. The events are eppe, sabre and foil.

Fatema Mujib, Bangladesh's first gold medalist in fencing at the South Asian (SA) Games, is not taking part in the championship due to her injury problem. She will have to be out of the field for at least four months due to knee injury.

Fatema came into the limelight after winning gold at the SA Games held in Kathmandu for the first time in 2019. Although the national camp has begun ahead of the 14th SA Games in Pakistan in January next year, but Fatema is out of camp due injury.

The competition is sponsored by the famous brand Suzuki Motorbike while the media partners are Amar Desh and Channel 24.

In this regards, a press conference was held today (Thursday) at National Sports Council conference room to provide all the details of the meet.
 
BFF president Major General (retd) Qamrul Islam, its general secretary Bosunia M Ashikul Islam, executive member Rezaur Rahman Sinha and Shafiqur Rahman and sponsor Rakson Motor Bikes Limited director Kazi Ashikur Rahman were present in the press conference.
