Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei in Men's Asia Cup Hockey

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh shrugged off their previous match defeat as they beat Chinese Taipei by 8-3 goals in their second pool B match of the eight-team Men's Asia Cup Hockey held at Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, India today.

Bangladesh took the lead early through a field goal when Md Abdullah opened an account for Bangladesh in the 4th minute, but the lead lasted for few minutes when Tsung-Yu restored the parity for Chinese Taipei also from a field goal in the 10th minute of the match.

In the second quarter, Chinese Taipei took the lead when Tsung-Yu scored his second goal in the 18th minute converting a penalty corner but Bangladesh staged a fight back in the match when Abdullah scored his second field goal in the 26th minute of the match.

The heaven opened in the third quarter when Bangladesh scored four goals in a span of nine minutes. Shohanur put Bangladesh ahead scoring the third goal converting a penalty corner in the 36th minute, Rakibul Hasan scored two field goals in the 42nd minute and Ashraful Islam made the score line 6-2 converting a penalty corner in the 45th minute of the match.

Captain Reazul Babu further widened the margin scoring the seventh goal for Bangladesh converting a penalty corner in the 56th minute while Ashraful Islam scored his second and eighth goal for Bangladesh also converting penalty corner in the 58th minute of the match.

Tsung-Jen reduced the margin scoring the third goal for Taipei converting a penalty corner in the 60th minute of the match.

Bangladesh will play their last match of the group against record five-time champions South Korea on Monday (Sept 1) at the same venue. 

Earlier, held on Friday last, Bangladesh went down a 4-1 goal lose to Malaysia while Taipei suffered a 7-0 goal defeat by South Korea in their respective group opening matches.
