DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS)- A total of 14 Bangladeshi cricketers have registered their names for the auction of South Africa's domestic tournament, SA Twenty20.

The auction for the 2025-26 season of SA T20 will be held on September 9.

A total of 541 cricketers will be put on sale, including 14 Bangladeshi cricketers-Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Liton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mehedi Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shamim Patwari, Towhid Hridoy, Hasan Mahmud, Jaker Ali Anik, Taijul Islam, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana.

Forty-three-year-old English legend James Anderson has also registered his name in the auction. Anderson returned to T20 cricket after almost 11 years this year. He played for Lancashire in the T20 Blast. Anderson then played three matches for Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

A total of 241 foreign players will be put on auction, but only 25 slots are available for them. In contrast, 300 South African cricketers will go under the hammer for 59 places in the auction.

The SA Twenty20 will start in December, coinciding with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20. So, it is unlikely that Bangladeshi cricketers will get any clearance to play even if they are roped in by any franchise.
