DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS)—Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul expresses his desire to run in the upcoming BCB elections.

Speaking to the media after visiting the Sylhet District Stadium he told the reporters that he wants to serve the country at whatever capacity it is possible.

“We will hold the elections in the first week of October. We will conduct a fair election,” he said. In BCB, the president is not elected directly. Through the elections, the directors are elected first. So the first objective is to try to be part of that,” he added.

Bulbul, the former Bangladesh skipper and the country’s first Test centurion was brought into the BCB, replacing Faruque Ahmed. He was elected as BCB president on May 30, following the NSC's withdrawal of Faruque's directorship.

“I want to work more for cricket in the country as per its need,” he said.

The BCB board of directors will be formed with 25 directors with the 10 directors to be elected from the Regional and District Cricket Association councillorship category and 12 to be elected as Dhaka Metropolis Club representatives.

One director will be elected from the 'Others' category, while the NSC retains the authority to nominate two directors to the cricket board.

The directors will then excise their vote to elect the president as per the constitution.

Former national skipper Tamim Iqbal earlier hinted at contesting the BCB elections.

The BCB is soon expected to announce a three-member election commission, which will announce the specific date of the elections.
