National Kho Kho Championship begins

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS)-The 8th National Kho Kho Championship (men’s and women’s), marking the Festival of Youth, has begun at Paltan ground in the capital today (Friday), said a press release.

On the opening day in the men’s division, Bangladesh Ansar defeated Gazipur district team by one innings and 13 points while Dhaka district defeated Tangail district team by one innings and eight points. Nilphamari district team defeated Natore district team by 17-10 points.

Meanwhile, in the women's division, Bangladesh Ansar beat Nilphamari district by an innings and two points while Jashore district defeated Satkhira district by one innings and one point. 

On the other hand, Bangladesh Ansar defeated Tangail district team by a big margin of 32 points and an innings.

Earlier, Youth and Sports Secretary Mahbub-Ul Alam formally inaugurated the three-day meet as the chief guest, organized by Bangladesh Kho Kho Kho Federation and sponsored by Mercantile Bank Limited and co-sponsored by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Bangladesh Kho Kho Federation president AHM Ziaul Haque presided over the opening ceremony.

Tournament committee’s chairman engineer Abdul Muktadir Belal, member secretary Motiur Rahman Babul and federation’s general secretary Mir Kaiser Sadik, among others, were also present there.

The finals of both divisions will be held on Sunday (Sept 7) at the same venue.
