Cricketers depart country for Asia Cup

DHAKA, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Cricketers left Dhaka for United Arab Emirates (UAE) today to take part in the Asia Cup in two separate groups. 

The first group, which included captain Liton Das, Jaker Anik, Saif Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shamim Patwari, and others, left Dhaka at 10.15 AM.

The second batch, however, will leave the country at 7.30 PM, according to a BCB press release.

Bangladesh are drawn in Group B along with Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. 

They will start their Asia Cup mission by taking on Hong Kong on September 11. Bangladesh will later face off against Sri Lanka on September 13 before playing their final group match against Afghanistan on September 16.

 India, Pakistan, Oman, and the host UAE are pitted in Group A.

Two teams from both groups will move to the Super 4, after which the top two teams will secure a place in the final. 

Bangladesh will play all of their matches in Abu Dhabi. All three of their matches will begin at 8.30 PM (Bangladesh Time).

The Asia Cup will be held in T20 format this year, keeping the 2026 T20 World Cup in mind.

Bangladesh goes into the regional tournament, high on confidence following their victory in the past three T20 series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Netherlands.
