DHAKA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has planned to launch the NCL in ODI format following the success of the NCL T20, said its president Aminul Islam Bulbul.

Speaking as the chief guest at the grand launch of the NCL T20 2025-2026 at a local hotel in the city, Bulbul also said the NCL ODI will be considered a List A tournament.

"We have a plan to organize it in ODI format," he informed. "The NCL T20 was a huge success. The ODI format will be considered a List A tournament."

The NCL (National Cricket League) is traditionally a first-class tournament of the country. The BCB introduced its T20 format for the first time last year. The competition, held only in Sylhet, received a relatively good response.

After the success of the last edition, the BCB is going to organize the NCL T20 for the second time, which will begin on September 14.

Two more venues - Rajshahi and Bogura - have been added to the upcoming tournament, which is only reserved for local players.

The participating teams, however, started their practice from today after attending a fitness test.

Meanwhile, during the grand launch of the upcoming NCL T20, BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul and other board officials were also present.

Representatives of the NCL teams, including the former captain of the national team, also attended the inauguration.

Tournament Committee Chairman Akram Khan said that young cricketers will be able to watch the NCL T20 matches for free while sitting in the stands. The BCB will give out 200-300 free tickets for each match.
