Subrota takes solo lead

DHAKA, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - FIDE Master Subrota Biswas of Dhaka University took solo lead in the points table with 4.5 points after the fifth round of 49th National ‘B’ Chess Championship held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room today today. 

Five players shared the second position with four points. They are FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh Ansar, International Master Md. Minhaz Uddin & FIDE Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, International Master Abu Safian Shakil and FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid of Bangladesh Army.

Eight players shared the third position with 3.5 points. They are FIDE Master Khandaker Aminul Islam & FIDE Master Mohammad Javed, FIDE Master Nayem Haque, Anata Choudhury, FIDE Master Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Candidate Master Md. Sajidul Haque, Rayan Rashid Mugdho and Amit Bikram Roy.

In the day’s fifth round matches, FM Subrota Biswas beat FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, IM Abu Sufian Shakil split point with IM Md. Minhaz Uddin, FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid split point with FM Md. Sharif Hossain,  FM Khandaker Aminul Islam split point with CM Md. Sajidul Haque, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed defeated CM Md Abu Hanif, Anata Choudhury split point with Amit Bikram Roy, FM Nayem Haqye outclassed CM Avik Sarker, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman overpowered Jodunath Biswas, FM Mohammad Javed outplayed Feroz Ahmed, Mohammed Shaker Ullah split point with CM Md. Masum Hossain, Rayan Rashid Mugdho beat CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed, WFM Warsia Kushbu defeated Sk. Rashedul Hasan, CM Tutul Dhar beat Golam Mostafa Bhuiayn, Md Nasir Uddin outclassed Tashriq Saihan Shan, WFM Noshin Anjum defeated CM Sohel Chowdhury, WFM Wadifa Ahmed beat Md Eftekhar Alam, Afnan Zarif Haque overpowered WIM Rani Hamid, Abu Huraira Sowrab beat Tanvir Alam, Md. Sultan Byzid Amin split point with FM Mohammed Abdul Malek, Swarnavo Choudhury defeated S. M. Kotaiba Biplob, CM Shafiq Ahmed outplayed Md Foajul Islam, Md. Ratan Ali defeated Shadip Kanti Dey, Faisal Hossain beat Hamidul Haque, M. M. Zahirul Islam beat Md. Sultan and Md Sharifuzzaman split point with Siam Chowdhury.
