DHAKA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul
Islam Bulbul was optimistic about the national team's prospect in the
upcoming Asia Cup, saying that 'if they can give their all, they will
definitely do well.'

Bangladesh left the country for the Asia Cup with an aim to clinch the trophy
for the first time.

"We have a potential to make it a memorable tournament. You know it is
difficult to make any prediction, specially in T20 cricket but I am
confident," Bulbul told the reporters here today during BCB run-scoring
workshop.

Bulbul, also the former skipper and the country's first Test centurion
believes that running between the wicket and fielding will be key.

"I think running between the wickets and fielding will be key in determining
the course of the game," he said, adding that adding and saving runs shrewdly
through running between the wicket and fielding can put Bangladesh in
favourable position

"If we can add 15 extra runs through shrewd running between the wicket and
save 10 more runs through sharp fielding, we can actually make 25 runs, and
those 25 runs could determine the course of a match, specially in T20
cricket."

Bangladesh are pitted in Group B alongside Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and
Afghanistan. They will open the tournament with their match against Hong Kong
tomorrow (Thursday) in Abu Dhabi.

While Hong Kong is considered an easy opponent comparatively, Bangladesh will
face real test against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan had already made high-flying start to the tournament by thrashing
Hong Kong by 94 runs.

But Bulbul believes Abu Dhabi pitch will resemble a home-like condition for
Bangladesh.

"In Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh might enjoy home advantage. We have the skill and
potential and I am confident that if we can give our best, we'll do well."
