DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS)—Liton Das added another feather to his career by going past Mahmudullah Riyad to hit most sixes for Bangladesh in T20 format.

The feat came during Bangladesh’s Asia Cup opening game against Hong Kong  at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi today.

Liton played a match-winning 39 ball-59 runs knock in Bangladesh’s seven-wicket victory and the innings was designed with six fours and one six. That lone six in the innings was enough to dethrone Mahmudullah from the top position.

Mahmudullah who retired from the T20 format last year smashed 77 sixes in 141 matches. Liton needed 111 matches to break the record.

Soumya Sarkar was in the third place with 55 sixes in 87 matches while Shakib Al Hasan followed him with 53 sixes in 129 matches. No other batters of Bangladesh could hit 50 sixes so far.

Tamim Iqbal who is in the fifth place hit just 44 sixes in 74 matches.

India’s opener Rohit Sharma is the top of the ladder in the world cricket with 205 sixes in 159 matches. Rohit who retired from T20 format last year is still the only cricketer in this planet to hit 200 plus sixes in T20 Internationals.

But the name of the batter in the second position is unexpected to some extent. UAE’s Muhammad Waseem is in the second spot with 180 sixes in just 83 matches.
