BEZA inks land lease deal with Optimaplast for $3.96m investment in NSEZ

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) today inked a land lease agreement with Optimaplast Industries Private Limited for the allocation of three acres of land within the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ). 

The lease agreement was signed by BEZA Executive Member (Investment Development) Saleh Ahmad, and the Managing Director of Optimaplast Industries Private Limited G M Ekramul Haque at a function at the BEZA headquarters in the city, said a press release.

Optimaplast Industries Private Limited is set to invest approximately US$3.96 million in the NSEZ. The company, having current annual turnover of nearly Taka 96 crore, is planning to establish a factory focusing on plastic and metal industrial production. 

The new facility will manufacture a variety of items, including plastic bottles, lubricant containers, paint containers, buckets, lids, caps, PET preforms, and PET Jars. Furthermore, the company intends to diversify production to include medical supplies, specifically blood bags, and garment accessories.

At the event, Saleh Ahmad congratulated Optimaplast Industries Private Limited, stating that the NSEZ creates a unique opportunity for investors. 

He highlighted that this investment is focused on backward linkage products, which will help diversify the range of goods being manufactured. 

G M Ekramul Haque thanked BEZA and committed that the company is dedicated to the swift construction of the industrial facility. 

He confirmed that necessary planning is currently underway to establish a self-sufficient industrial factory dedicated to fulfilling the requirements of other enterprises operating within the industrial city.

Optimaplast Industries was originally founded in 1994 in Chattogram under the name Reliance Can Industry (Private) Limited. The company is known in Bangladesh as a producer of high-quality plastic rigid products and packaging materials. 

The NSEZ, where the new factory will be located, is described as the country's largest planned industrial area, spanning 25 kilometers along the coast. Currently, approximately 14 industrial enterprises are already operational within the zone, and an additional 20 industrial facilities are currently under construction. The zone is designed to integrate all necessary urban system facilities alongside the industrial establishments.
