24 poor families get female calves in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, March 17, 2025 (BSS) - Some 24 poor and distressed families of 
Gaibandha Municipality received female calves (heifer calf) from World Vision 
Bangladesh, Gaibandha Area Programme, this noon. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)-General AKM Hedayetul Islam handed over 
the female calves to the beneficiaries as the chief guest at a function held 
on the premises of District Livestock Office of the town here this noon with 
District Livestock Officer Dr. Abdurrazzak in the chair. 

The female calves were distributed to the beneficiary family members under 
Gift Catalogue Project of the organisation with the financial support of Hong 
Kong. 

Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Tarun Kumar Dutta and Field Technical 
Specialist of Livelihood Technical Programme in Rangpur Area Coordination 
Office Md. Tahmidur Rahman spoke at the event as special guests. 

ADC AKM Hedayetul Islam urged the selected beneficiaries to rear the calves 
properly like their own children to get a good return from the calves in 
future. 

He also thanked the World Vision Bangladesh to stand beside the poor families 
here with calves in a bid to involve the family members in income generating 
activities to change their socio-economic condition gradually.
