Four illegal brick kilns fined Tk 8 lakh in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, March 17, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in a drive realised Taka 
eight lakh as fine from the owners of four brick kilns for manufacturing 
bricks without approval of the Department of Environment (DoE) and various 
other irregularities in Sadar upazila today.

The mobile court led by Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive 
Magistrate Mohammad Salek Muhid conducted the drive in Baribathan area of 
Paglakanai union and Khadikhali of Maharajpur union of the upazila around 11 
am and fined two brick kilns Taka eight lakh and ordered others two to stop 
their activities.

Assistant Director of the District Environment Department Md. Muntasir Rahman 
was present during the drive.

The mobile court fined MMR Bricks owned by Mizanur Rahman Masum of Baribathan 
village of Paglakanai union and SSB Bricks owned by Yunus Ali, Taka four lakh 
each for violating the Brick Kiln Control Act-2013.

In addition, the mobile court ordered both brick kilns to stop all activities 
within the next 24 hours.

The mobile court conducted a drive at Ekta Bricks and Bhai Bhai Bricks of 
Maharajpur union of Sadar upazila around 12.30 pm and ordered to stop their 
activities within next 24 hours.
