RAJBARI, March 17, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration has launched a series of measures today to prevent passenger harassment at the Daulatdia-Paturia ferry ghat, the key waterway that connects 21 southern districts with the capital.

With Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest festival for the Muslim community, approaching, the administration has focused on addressing the rising incidents of assaults on home-bound passengers.

In response, the administration has introduced several initiatives to ensure passenger safety.

The new measures target harassment, illegal activities such as gambling, robbery, and fraud by the 'Malam Party,' as well as the collection of extra fares and reckless ferry operations.

Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhter presided over a meeting at her conference room this morning to discuss the measures.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sharif Al Rajib, Additional District Magistrate Uchen May, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tarif Ul Hasan, and Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Nahid Islam joined other officials at the meeting.
